To the right are two double-helix structures found in nature. The top one is a model of human DNA, the blueprint from which our physical bodies are built. The bottom double-helix is a false color photo of a nebula near the black hole that is at the center of our galaxy. It is hypothesized that the shape of this nebula is formed by the strong magnetic field of the black hole. Could our DNA be influenced by energy, and vice-versa? There is research demonstrating that our emotions (which are energy) can change the shape of our DNA.

We have long known that our emotions have a profound effect on our bodies -- triggering surges in hormones, raising or lowering blood pressure, heart rate, perspiration and respiration -- but it seems that our emotions reach into our very cells and change the structure of our DNA.

Presupposition 7: Our DNA is active on a multi-dimensional, quantum basis, responding to the energy of our emotions and ordering nearby matter.

A quantum biologist, Dr. Vladimir Poponin, created a vacuum in a container. The only thing left in the container were photons (units of light). As expected, the photons were distributed and behaved randomly. He then placed human DNA inside the container and observed the photons. Amazingly, the photons lined up and were ordered by the DNA. When he removed the DNA, the photons stayed in the same order as when the DNA was in the container with them. He postulated that some new field of energy was excited by the DNA, a previously unrecognized form of energy, and that DNA communicates with matter (in this case, photons) through this energy field.

Corollary A: We can consciously change the shape and efficiency of our DNA via our emotions.

In another experiment at the Institute of HeartMath, human placental DNA (the most pristine) was placed in 28 vials from which changes in the DNA could be measured. A vial was given to each of 28 researchers trained in emotional self-management; each had been trained in how to generate and feel emotions according to research protocols. When the researchers created and felt stress, anger, fear or frustration, the DNA responded by tightening up. It became shorter and switched off many of its codes. You literally become “shut down” by heavy emotions. When the researchers created and felt joy, love, gratitude and appreciation, the DNA responded by relaxing and lengthening, and the coding that had turned off then switched back on.

HeartMath extended the experiment to people who tested HIV positive. It was found that feelings of love, gratitude and appreciation increased their immune response tremendously when they dwelled in these blissful emotions.

Corollary B: Our DNA comprises a computer that performs 330 trillion operations per second, more than 100,000 times the speed of the fastest PC.

Scientists have begun experimenting with DNA as a portable programmable computer powered by its own enzymes. In 2003, National Geographic News published an article that stated, “Think of DNA as software, and enzymes as hardware. Put them together in a test tube. The way in which these molecules undergo chemical reactions with each other allows simple operations to be performed as a byproduct of the reactions. The scientists tell the devices what to do by controlling the composition of the DNA software molecules. It's a completely different approach to pushing electrons around a dry circuit in a conventional computer.”

Evolution is the intelligence of the natural universe reprogramming DNA. As shown in the first experiments mentioned above, we can consciously control our DNA, to what extent it is not yet known. I believe that we have the ability to guide our own evolution if we awaken to the fullness of our quantum consciousness.
