The beauty and symmetry of a magnet's electro- magnetic field is made visible with iron filings which are organized by the field from a random jumble into the delicate pattern.

Something formless and perfect
Born before the universe,
In vast empty silence.
Solitary,
Unchanging,
Infinite,
Eternally present.
The Mother of the universe and the ten thousand beings and things,
It is impossible to name,
So, I call it boundless immensity.
-- Tao Te Ching #25
Presupposition #6: There is a field of energy permeating all of existence throughout all the dimensions. This morphic energy field diversifies and organizes matter like an electro-magnetic field organizes iron filings. It holds the blueprints of space/time creations and beyond. This field is both intelligent and interactive. Its properties differ in each dimensional realm.
We are influenced by these fields in every aspect of our existence throughout the ten or so dimensions. This includes our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual life. Many refer to this as the collective subconscious. This consciousness is not “sub” (meaning below with the implication of inferiority) anything. It is, for most of us, “other” consciousness that we are not really aware of outside of our limited space/time existence. Regardless of our lack of awareness, this field continues to operate.
There must be some primal force,
but it is impossible to locate.
I believe it exists, but can not see it.
I see its results,
I can even feel it,
but it has no form.
-- Zhuangzi, philosopher, 4th Century BCE
This primal force is called chi by Taoists and the term has spread around the planet to mean life force energy. But it is so much more. The Taoists (the creators of Chinese medicine and working with chi) celebrate the undefinedness of the word in their culture and do not feel it necessary to pin the term down with a definition just to suit Western science. The Chinese character for chi depicts the steam that rises from a warm bowl of rice, further symbolizing heaven and earth, yin and yang. Chi is that subtle energy that provides the medium in which we exist in all dimensions. Most of us know as much about chi as fish know about water: not one thing on a conscious level.
Everything in space/time is composed of energy. Solids are solidified energy particles that eventually return to energy. This energy, as well as its more subtle forms such as Reiki, becomes finer and finer as it reaches the upper realms. There is nothing that is not chi in its broadest sense of the term.
Corollary: The focused intent of the mind can control this energy, directing it as needed. When this occurs, the pattern of the energy field changes and it thus changes the physical realm to conform to it.
On a practical, day-to-day basis, this means the life force energy that circulates through all living organisms and that can be controlled or directed by consciousness. Its activity is described by a maxim of Taoist medicine: Chi follows yi, and blood follows chi. Yi is conscious intent which directs the chi where it is needed; the circulation in the area then opens up and blood enters with oxygen and nutrients. Healing occurs.
You can easily prove this to yourself. Sit quietly, relax, and with your intent direct energy into your hands. In your mind, see it moving with every exhalation of breath down to your fingertips. Soon your fingertips will tingle and get very pink. The visualization is crucial to success.
This limitless energy flows all around you and through you, and it can be directed. There is another maxim of Taoist medicine: Chi cannot be held. You cannot hold onto chi any more than you can hold on to those beers you drank at the party. In the uninitiated, chi enters the body only through the lungs (air) and in food. People initiated into an energy tradition -- such as yoga, chi kung, tai chi, or Reiki -- are able to also pull the energy into their bodies with various practices and direct it where it is needed. If you are thus initiated, whenever you get to feeling “low energy,” it is a simple matter to gather more.
This IS your birthright. Why not go for it.
